With the latest batch of episodes released the Danish dub of Dragon Ball Super’s Universe 6 tournament arc is now complete.
As of today episodes 40-42 are now available to stream on the DR TV app.
Danmarks Radio has been releasing 3 new episodes a week since the Danish dub resumed on April 11th, so next week’s batch of episodes should be 43-45. The following week will likely be 46-48 (which will include the beginning of the Future Trunks arc) and so on.
Further new episodes are scheduled for April 25th at 6am, and as of now it seems safe to assume the next batch will be 34-36, the week after 37-39 and so on.
In any case this is great news for Danish Dragon Ball fans who may have been waiting nearly 20 years for a dub in their language.
It is unknown whether the reason for the date changing back was a clerical error or a change of plans from the company, but we have reached out to Danmarks Radio for comment.
In a recent post on the Kanzenshuu forum user HinKyto shares an email from Danmarks Radio (DR) in response to a query about the upcoming episodes.
While no number was specified for how many of the 49 newly licensed episodes would premier DR did confirm that they would start to release the new episodes on April 11th and further episodes would follow “over time”.
While the gap between episodes has not been confirmed it can be speculated based on another TOEI property DR recently licensed.
As we reported previously the first 30 episodes of One Piece were licensed and then smaller batches of episodes followed (31-45, 46-53, 54-61), so assuming a similar pattern batches of 7-15 episodes of Dragon Ball Super could be released a few weeks apart.
As episodes 28-41 cover the Universe 6 arc of Dragon Ball Super that could be a likely contender for the batch of episodes coming April 11th. After that is anyone’s guess with the Copy Vegeta arc lasting 5 episodes and the Future Trunks arc standing at 30.
Previously it was reported that Danmarks Radio were in negotiations for further episodes of Dragon Ball Super.
Now, it appears that the broadcasting and streaming giant who have been the home of Dragon Ball in Denmark since its debut have sealed the deal.
In a new post on the Dragon Ball DK Facebook page it was said that Jan Tellefsen, the director of the Danish Dragon Ball dubs revealed at the J-Popcon held on February 14th-16th that 49 new episodes have been licensed.
This new batch of episodes will bring the total number of episodes in the Danish dub of Dragon Ball Super to 76. As such Danish fans can expect to see the entire Universe 6 and Goku Black arcs in their native tongue.
There is no release date for the new episodes, but following the debut of One Piece episodes 1-30, 31-45, 46-53 and 54-61 on October 11th, November 8th, December 6th and December 20th respectively it is possible they will also come soon and in small batches over the coming months.
It was never officially confirmed why the Danish dub of Dragon Ball Z was never complete, but reportedly fans were told by Danmarks Radio it was a very hard, time consuming and expensive process, so the fact they are picking up a huge number of Dragon Ball Super episodes and investing in another long running anime certainly shows commitment and bodes well for their relationship with TOEI Animation.
The first 27 episodes were uploaded to the platform, marking the first time any Dragon Ball series had a Danish dub since Dragon Ball Z was dubbed in the early 2000s.
Fortunately, for fans of the Dragon Ball Z dub several cast members reprised their roles, namely Caspar Phillipson as Goku, Peter Secher Schmidt as Freeza, Jan Tellefsen as Kuririn/Krillin and Christian Damsgaard as Piccolo.
Jan Tellefsen also returned as the ADR director.
New voices include Julie Lund as Bulma, Estrid Ebba Böttiger as Chi-Chi, Elias Strube as Jaco, Jesper Hagelskær Paasch as Beerus, Benjamin Kitter as Kaio-Sama/King Kai, Peter Aude as Mr Satan, Mathias Hartmann Niclasen as Gohan, Gulliver Rich Zahle as Goten, Arn Nielsen as Trunks, Peter Vindling as Vegeta, Oliver Berg as Whis and Michael Elo as elder Kai.
UPDATE : As reported by a fan Vegeta, who was previously voiced by Kristian Boland is being played by Peter Vinding and the dub is being recorded at KM Studio.
This will also mark the second time a Danish company has licensed any of the TV anime, as Dragon Ball Z was the only series to be shown prior to Super.
Luckily sangofe was also told if numbers were good for Dragon Ball Super, Danmarks Radio would buy more Dragon Ball content.
As such this could be a great opportunity for a revival of the franchise in the Scandinavian territory.
