Wojciech Paszkowski

It is with great sadness that following on from Krzysztof Banaszyk fans of the Polish dubs of Dragon Ball have lost another cast member from Z movies 12 and 13 – Wojciech Paszkowski. He passed away last Friday (August 23, 2024) at the age of 64.

The news appeared on the industry website Filmpolski.pl and was confirmed in an interview with the actor’s daughter. Paszkowski lectured at the Internet Database of Polish Film and the Maciej Pawłowski Author’s Musical School who provided information surrounding his passing on Facebook.

Paszkowski has provided his voice to 703 productions, which includes full-length animated and live-action films, series, films and video games. When it comes to dubbing Paszkowski has worked on over 150 role.

The actor’s voice transcends generations and his contribution to the Polish dubbing industry is considered invaluable, a huge loss to Polish culture and he is well regarded within his native Europe.

Paszkowski became famous for his roles as Mike Wazowski in “Monsters Inc.”, Andy Anderson in “The World According to Louis” and Dr. Doofenshmirtz in the series “Phineas and Ferb”, and made his stage debut in 1985 at the Powszechny Theatre in Warsaw but became associated with the Rampa Theatre from 1987 and performed in the Polish Radio Theatre on productions such as “The Marriage” which was an adaptation of Witold Gombrowicz’s drama and “The Hypersensitive” as well as TV plays, namely works by Andrzej Strzelecki and Piotr Cieślak.

The actor suffered two strokes in 2018 and 2022 and devloped epilepsy and said the hardest thing for him was been to playing with his own voice and not hiding behind the creation. Following these health complications Paszkowski had to limit the amount of work he was involved in.

In addition to the role of the narrator in Dragon Ball Z movies 12 and 13 Paszkowski also played Freeza in the former.

On one Facebook page announcing the news many fans expressed their love and sympathy for the actor.

The above can be translated as “God bless you Mr. Gohan” and the comment below may be translated as “Holy shit! First Krzysztof Banaszyk, now him! Why is it that only actors keep dying?!”.
