On this day in 1984 the Dragon Ball manga was first published in the 51st issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump.
Since then Akira Toriyama’s wildly successful manga ran for 42 volumes, a prequel (Jaco the Galactic Patrolman) and sequel manga (Toyotaro’s Dragon Ball Super) was released and TOEI Animation created six anime series (Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Kai, Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball Daima), 21 movies and 3 TV specials.
To celebrate the official Dragon Ball Twitter/X account is teasing something for fans to look forward to.
