It is official, Dragon Ball fans down under will get to enjoy the English dub for the new anime Dragon Ball Daima on the big screen too.
From November 14th the first three episodes will be screened in Australia and New Zealand.
The most recent movie Dragon Ball Super : Super Hero was screened in both territories and grossed $977,912 and $200,467 respectively out of $86,562,140 globally. An impressive number for two relatively low populated countries.
No other English-speaking territories have been announced, aside from the previously announced US screenings, or other territories in general, but as TOEI is making a huge push worldwide for Dragon Ball Daima it should be no surprise if further screenings are announced.
These theatrical screenings are being handled by Sugoi, a specialist anime distributor in Oceania set up by founder and former CEO of Madman Entertainment Tim Anderson.
Madman held the Australian and New Zealand rights to Dragon Ball for years, although they sold their anime division to Sony’s Aniplex in 2019, which then became part of Funimation’s streaming service and later Crunchyroll.
Former Australian staff were laid off in the process.
