According to a Facebook post Dragon Ball GT has been added to Hulu in the US with an English dubbed option, as early as November 25th.
According to one fan it is only available with the US score by Mark Menza and not the original Japanese score by Akihito Tokunaga.
The Japanese version is reportedly not available on the platform, unsurprising since the only musical score available for that version is the Akihito Tokunaga score.
Earlier this week TOEI Animation announced that the original 1986 Dragon Ball series was streaming on Hulu with an English dub option.
This is not the first time the show was available on the platform, as it was removed in February of this year but expected to return.
Whether the series was removed for work to be done on this HD upscale remains to be seen.
Other Dragon Ball series available on Hulu include Dragon Ball Kai, Dragon Ball Daima and Dragon Ball Super. Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT are no longer available.
According to a social media post from entertainment website Mentrum a Hungarian dub of Dragon Ball Super : Super Hero may be coming to the new linear channel Canal+ Action on December 23rd at 8:50pm.
Canal+ has been available as a streaming service in Hungary and its content was previously accessible on the platform Direct One since 2021.
Dragon Ball has most recently been available in the Hungarian language when Dragon Ball Super aired in 2018 on Viasat6, but this would mark the first time there has ever been a Hungarian dub of any of the Dragon Ball movies.
This will also not be the first time Canal + has premiered an exclusive dub of Dragon Ball Super : Super Hero as recently they showed a Czech dub of the movie.
It has been announced that Tatsuya Nagamine, the director of the first Dragon Ball Super movie Broly as well as Dragon Ball Super episodes 77-131 has passed away at the age of 53.
Nagamine’s family revealed that he died on August 20th and described him as “kind, warm, and caring, and was the best father and husband in the world”.
Nagamine worked on not just other TOEI anime like One Piece, Digimon and Precure, but also the short film Dr. Slump: Dr. Mashirito Abale-chan adapted from a one-shot by Akira Toriyama in 2007.
Dragon Ball Super Broly has received at least 19 dubs worldwide and was released in at least 111 countries, making it the second most widely released Dragon Ball movie only behind the most recent movie Super Hero.
Dragon Ball Super’s 6-year run on UK TV should be coming to an end soon, as it has been announced Narrative Entertainment will be shutting down their linear channels and app next month.
Narrative Entertainment MD Paul Dunthorne commented:
“With commercial value across the UK kids’ TV market now just 4% of what it was 10 years ago, we’ve taken the decision to close our linear Pop channel at the end of the year. We understand the importance of offering high-quality kids’ TV, and we’ve done everything that we can to maintain Pop. But free-to-air channels for this audience are simply not commercially viable without public service broadcaster-style funding.
“We will retain our Pop presence on FAST channels in the UK on Freeview, Samsung, LG and other platforms, and internationally, as these continue to offer commercial opportunities.”
Pop was previously owned by Sony Pictures Television before they sold their UK TV portfolio to Narrative Entertainment in 2021.
Dragon Ball Super’s premier on Pop in 2019 marked the series debut on free TV, which became the only such free-to-air (FTA) commercial kids’ broadcaster after the closure of ITV’s CITV in 2023.
Sister channel Pop Max (which also aired Dragon Ball Super) left Freeview and Sky in December of last year, and January this year respectively. Their content was moved to Pop and Pop Player.
As it stands Dragon Ball Super remains on Pop from 7pm-8pm and 1:50am-2:38am every night. Whether it will be run until Pop’s last day broadcasting remains to be seen.
As Dragon Ball Super has lasted 6 years on Pop (although the channel removed it from their schedule at times) it is the instalment of the franchise which has been on UK TV for the longest.
Dragon Ball Z aired between 2000 and 2002 on Cartoon Network, 2002-2003 on CNX and 2003-2005 on Toonami, Dragon Ball GT ran on CNX and Toonami for the same years while original Dragon Ball only aired on Toonami and Dragon Ball Kai was shown on Kix between 2012 and 2015.
It is likely Dragon Ball Super lasted as long as it has on Pop because of sponsorship deals with Bandai Namco and toy retailer chain Smyths.
While the future of Dragon Ball on linear TV remains uncertain, although the series is still available on Crunchyroll, BBC iPlayer and home video releases from Manga UK and Crunchyroll.
Dragon Ball content continues to arrive on streaming platforms in India.
The show is available in English as well as native languages Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
This is neither the first time these episodes have been available in India, nor the first time the five local dubs were released as they premiered on Cartoon Network India in June 2023.
Cartoon Network India and Discovery+ are both owned by Warner Brothers Discovery, so its not surprise they would be sharing assets.
For fans that want the original show with filler the corresponding episodes of Dragon Ball Z (branded as “Season 5”) are coming to Netflix on November 15th, although that will only be available in Japanese with English subtitles.
According to current TV listings on Thursday this week the Albanian channel Çufo is set to rerun original Dragon Ball.
Two episodes will be aired from 1:40pm-2:30pm and 8:25pm-9:15pm. The latter may be a rerun.
The dub broadcast will likely be the Digitalb dub from Albania and not the original Albanian dub from Kosovo as the latter is not known to have aired since the early 2000s on Kohavision.
It is official, there is now a debut date for the upcoming Basque dub of Dragon Ball Super.
The new dub will be released on October 24th.
Over a month ago a listing was spotted on Crunchyroll’s site for a new Dragon Ball Super Broly Blu-Ray steelbook to be released in North America.
Now listings have been spotted on Amazon UK, Anime-On-Line and Rarewaves for what appears to be a regional repackaging of this release.
Crunchyroll in the UK was formerly known as Funimation, and Manga UK before that. The latter released a steelbook for this movie back in 2019.
It remains to be seen whether this release will contain the US Funimation disc or the Manga UK disc, which doesn’t have the green tint, although considering the fact the Dragon Ball Z Complete Series set last year used the US discs rather than the UK ones that seems to be becoming the new precedent for these releases.
September 18th was the day that SubTV announced the final batch of Dragon Ball Z episodes (the first three were episodes 1-57, 58-100 and 101-123) back in 2005.
This was exciting news for fans at the time as the channel had stopped airing any episodes of the show, including reruns since Christmas eve the year before.
With the exception of Battle of Gods earlier this year this was the last time any piece of content with the “Dragon Ball Z” branding was released in Finland, and when it comes to the TV series it was the last time to date.
Indeed when we asked on Reddit if any fans would like to see Dragon Ball Z return to Finland one expressed doubt that there would be any excitement for such happening, while another user wished for recordings of the show on SubTV to turn up.
