Manolo Solo (Manuel Jesús Fernández Serrano) passes away

Last week actor Manolo Solo (real name Manuel Jesús Fernández Serrano) passed away at the age of 62.

The actor known for playing Beerus and #17 in the Castilian dub of Dragon Ball died on Thursday from cancer.

Solo won a Goya Award for Best Supporting Actor for the film Tarde para la ira.

The stage name Solo came from his childhood desire to be a rock star, in addition to his work as an actor he was a singer, bassist and guitarist of the rock band Los Relicarios.

Solo was also a theatre actor, performing in the documentary plays Ruz-Bárcenas (2013) and El Rey (2015), both of which were adapted to films.

Within Dragon Ball, Solo is also known for playing Tao Pai Pai, Silver Horn, Mr. Popo, Gregory, Zarbon (first voice), Jheese, Oob (Dragon Ball GT episodes 32 onward), Bon Para and Nappa in Dragon Ball Super: Broly.

Solo is the second actor that played #17 to pass away this year after Figueira Junior in the Brazilian Portuguese dub).

First two Dragon Ball movies coming to Anime Box in Spain

Anime Box has just announced that the first two Dragon Ball movies will be coming to their platform in Spain.

The Legend of Shenlong will hit the platform on July 20, followed by The Sleeping Princess in Devil’s Castle on July 27th.

This will mark the first time that these movies have been available on a streaming service, as previously they were only available through TV airings and home video releases.

Anime Box added the three classic anime Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT to their platform, as well as Dragon Ball Kai in 2024.

Anime Box’s parent company Selecta Vision have been the home of Dragon Ball on DVD and Blu-Ray for several years, but this addition will solidify them as the place to go for digital Dragon Ball content where Spanish fans can watch on all their devices too.

Spain to receive first ever Blu-Ray release of Dragon Ball GT

20 years into the formats history and just in time for the 30th anniversary of the series it has just been announced that Dragon Ball GT will be receiving a Blu-Ray release.

This upcoming release will be in Spain from distributor Selecta Vision, who have released a lot of Dragon Ball content on home video in the country, including recent Blu-Rays of not just the original Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z but also Dragon Ball Kai and the movies.

No release date is yet known but Selecta Vision distributed posters at the Manga Barcelona 2025 event announcing this release.

These posters were leaked by a user named Vercery on forums and a fan contacted Selecta Vision to verify the information.

Furthermore a user named Bicho_86 supplied the image below, which went unnoticed by the Spanish fanbase for a few days following the announcement.

Suffice to say Selecta Vision did confirm the news, so soon Spanish fans can look forward to completing their classic anime trilogies on a HD format.

Selecta Vision confirms European Spanish dub of Dragon Ball Daima set to be released in 2026

It was just announced at the Selecta Vision conference at Manga Barcelona (the most important fair for the medium of manga in Spain) that Dragon Ball Daima will be released in 2026 with Spanish dubbing.

Up until now the series has only been available in Spain in Japanese with Spanish subtitles, but this means that local fans can enjoy the series in their native tongue.

This is fantastic news, not only for Spanish fans that wanted a local dub but also those that like to own Dragon Ball on physical media as Selecta Vision releases the series on DVD and Blu-Ray with the most recent addition being their releases of Dragon Ball Kai (another show with a long-awaited European Spanish dub).

Dragon Ball Daima coming to free-to-air TV in Spain?

It has been reported that José Pablo López, director of RTVE, the national television and radio public broadcaster was asked about airing the latest anime series Dragon Ball Daima on the Clan network.

The above comment directly translates to “We are in it”, implying interest in the product.

Dragon Ball Daima is currently available across multiple platforms in Spain, namely AnimeBox, Crunchyroll and Netflix, but it is only available on all these services in Japanese audio with Spanish subtitles.

A Spanish dub exists for the series, but only for the Latin American region, no European dub has been announced, although it may happen as all Dragon Ball series thus far has had a Latino dub and a Castilian dub. Even Dragon Ball Kai received a dub in Spain last year after over a decade of only a Latin American dub being in circulation.

Dragon Ball Kai received its Castilian Spanish dub from Dasara Producciones, so they may be contracted to dub Dragon Ball Daima too.

Dragon Ball Super Basque dub premiers on October 24th

It is official, there is now a debut date for the upcoming Basque dub of Dragon Ball Super.

The new dub will be released on October 24th.

Selecta Vision to release fourth box set for Dragon Ball Kai

Selecta Vision has recently posted about their upcoming Dragon Ball Kai Blu-Ray DVD and Blu-Ray boxsets on Twitter/X.

This new volume, which contains episodes 55-76 with dubs in Spanish, Catalan, Galician and Basque will be released on October 3rd.

Considering the number of episodes per box set the next volume after this should be the final release for the first 98 episodes of Kai before Selecta Vision move on to The Final Chapters, which fans can check out on streaming platform Anime Box, or on Comedy Central from September 15th at 2pm.

Catalan dub of Dragon Ball Super drops June 6th on 3Cat and SX3

In June of last year it was announced that Dragon Ball Super would be coming to the Catalonian streaming platforms 3Cat and SX3, which currently have the original two anime Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. The former of which is currently the 5th most viewed program, and the latter is being recommended to viewers.

3Cat, SX3 and TV3 (the original Catalonian broadcaster that first aired Dragon Ball in the region on February 15, 1990) are both a part of Televisió de Catalunya

The new Catalan dub went into production on February 20th, as confirmed by Marc Zanni, the voice of Goku and director.

Now a date has been confirmed for when this dub of Dragon Ball Super will be available to watch – June 6th.

The first two episodes will be released on May 31st at the Phenomena venue in Barcelona at a themed and family event.

European Spanish dub of Dragon Ball Kai: The Final Chapters begins on Monday

Spanish distributor Selecta Vision has announced they will be releasing Dragon Ball Kai: The Final Chapters on their streaming service Anime Box on March 24th (Monday).

From this point a new episode will drop every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The series will be available with Spanish, Catalan and Galician dubs.

The first part of Dragon Ball Kai begun on July 5th last year in Spain, on the same service.

Fans that like the retro feel of traditional TV also got to see Dragon Ball Kai on Comedy Central since Monday (March 17th) at 5:30pm.

As such this has been a great week, and year for fans of Dragon Ball Kai in Spain.

Spanish Dragon Ball fans awaiting Daima dub and want Dasara Producciones to continue the job

According to an article from a Spanish Dragon Ball reporter native fans are still awaiting a local dub for the most recent TV anime Dragon Ball Daima.

While fans have been receiving episodes on Anime Box and Crunchyroll every Friday, but Dragon Ball Daima, in their country remains shown in Japanese with Spanish subtitles.

Accordingly, Dasara Producciones with Mercedes Hoyos directing have delighted fans with their dubs of Dragon Ball Super, and more recently Dragon Ball Kai, even pleasing Latin American fans that have traditionally been more critical of the Iberian Spanish dubs.

In January of this year the Latin American Spanish dub was showcased by distributor Corazón Films in Mexican theatres for the press and guests, but in Europe there has been no news.

Fans that reached out were asked would they like Dasara Producciones to dub Dragon Ball Super and why, which received positive responses, as Antonio Sánchez-Migallón Jiménez cites:
