  • Translator for new European Portuguese edition of the Dragon Ball manga revealed

Kanzenshuu user jrdemr has self-announced to be the official translator for Portugal’s new edition of the Dragon Ball manga published by Devir.

As jrdemr notes, the original Edições ASA Portuguese translation of the manga lasted 18 volumes and was poorly translated from the Spanish version and the second edition was indirectly translated from the Viz release.

This will mark the first time a Portuguese translation of the Dragon Ball manga was based on the Japanese version.

As per the publishing houses preferences for older series Dragon Ball will be published in the 3-in-1 format rather than the traditional tankoubon format.

The first volume is expected in November.

  • “Dragon Ball Legend” edition of the manga coming to Spain on November 27th

Thanks to the reliable Spanish Dragon Ball expert and Derek Padula’s translator Antonio Kaytos for reporting on this, a new edition of the manga is coming, and it is a gorgeous piece for collectors.

According to Madrid-based media outlet Tomos y Grapas this manga release will be a “replica” emulating the contents originally published in Shonen Jump by combining colour pages with black and white.

Each volume will cover a different story arc in addition to being the same size as Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and containing more pages than the tankoubon and kanzenban releases.

The Legends release of the manga will feature as part of the novelties during the Barcelona Manga Fair and three boxes are expected to be released over the run of this new manga edition.

The Dragon Ball manga (published as Bola de Drac) has proven popular with Spanish audiences for decades since the first volume was released back in May 1992, and this new edition should serve both newcomers and long time fans well.
